Drunken Parrot Tree

Named after Richard van der Schot (1730-1819), Dutch head gardener at the Palace of Schönbrunn, near Vienna. This South African member of the Fabaceae is a spectacular addition to the garden, especially for those who like to plant trees for wildlife like birds and insects. Prized for herbal remedies for blood disorders, heartburn and hangovers.

How to grow

Plant in full sun in a well-drained soil. Drought and frost tolerant once established. Avoid planting where dripping nectar could cause staining.
